SUMMARY OF EXPERIENCE
PORTAGE
ES&H Rep.
2011-PRESENT
I am currently working as a
project Safety and Health Representative for Portage at the Moab UMTRA
project. This project has given me valuable experience in working in the DOE
environment. I have gained extensive knowledge in the ISMS process and how it
is used to ensure worker involvement in the planning and executing work. I
have become familiar with DOE’s high expectations for safe sustained
production. In my role at the Moab project I have been responsible for IH
sampling, developing plans and procedures, planning and over site of hoisting
and rigging activities, heavy equipment operations, and rail transportation
of hazardous wastes. I have been the site safety officer providing coverage
for all operations including BBS steering committee and Safety Committee
teams. My strong points include the ability to communicate effectively with
craftsmen, management and the DOE customer. My experience in construction
gives me a solid working knowledge of how to integrate safety into work
activities in an efficient and effective way utilizing procedures, standards
and worker feedback. I enjoy applying a common sense approach to
A safe work culture, I also
enjoy a challenging project that lets me step out of the normal routine and
implement new work steps in a way that is safe, compliant and easy for the
workforce to understand.
